My family has a few Christmas traditions that, while not “traditional” Irish custom, remind us of the times we have spent in Ireland.
The first involves breakfast. I serve a massive Traditional Irish Breakfast on Christmas Day. I make a trip to a British food supplier and pick up black pudding and Irish bacon. I bake a couple loaves of brown bread. After the gifts are opened, we feast. On the evening of Christmas we host my family for a large celebration which includes soups and desserts. Always requested are my Irish Stew- perfect for cold winter evenings- and Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes -made with Guinness, Jameson’s and Bailey’s.
My Christmas gift to you is $2 off my Favorite Irish Recipes book, filled with photos I have taken during trips to Ireland and 9 of my most requested recipes. Until December 24 you can get the ebook for only $2.99.
Looking for a gift for that hard-to-buy-for lover of all things Irish? I have 3 (three) 8″x8″ hardback limited editions of Favorite Irish Recipes available for only $20. I’ll even sign them in the Irish if you want! Each comes wrapped in green tissue paper accompanied by a card handmade by Bunratty Weavers for you to write your Christmas wishes in. Please email directly to firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange shipping and payment.
If you like a little Irish surprise you’ll want to head over to Irish Fireside and sign up for their Secret Santa gifting. Reginstration ends December 9, so hurry over there. (Did you know that Saint Nicholas is believed to be buried in County Kilkenny?)
And finally, I am thrilled to be participating in this year’s Passports with a Purpose. I am hosting the giveaway for 2 nights in any B&B Ireland bed and breakfast. A $10 donation gets you one chance at winning any prize you choose. No limit on how much you can donate and all donations are tax deductible.
Nollaig Shona Dhuit!
