Planning your first family vacation to Ireland can be a bit overwhelming. There is so much to see and do!
I receive questions often, asking for recommendations and itineraries- often from first time visitors. My friend Keryn from WanderingOnTravels is hoping to take her family to Ireland this fall and asked if I would share with her- and her readers- a great Ireland itinerary for a family with young children.
Tips for Your First Family Vacation to Ireland
When I provide Ireland travel coaching for families, I always begin with a word of caution… Ireland may be a small country but it has a wealth of history, culture and breathtaking landscapes. You can't “see it all” in one visit.
For a first-time visit I most often recommend Ireland’s “sunny Southwest”, the counties of Kerry, Limerick and Clare. In these three counties your family can experience some of Ireland’s most magical locations, breathtaking sights, incredible history and beautiful culture.
For this itinerary (based on a one week vacation) I recommend arriving at Shannon Airport, if at all possible; it will save you a few hours of driving time.
In this article I share attractions the family will love, recommend places to stay, castles to visit and outdoor adventures to take.
I hope you'll take a minute to visit WalkingOnTravels to read Best Itinerary for Your First Family Vacation to Ireland, and poke around Keryn's site for other great travel destinations and advice.
