While visiting the Kilkenny Saturday Market on The Parade outside Kilkenny Castle I met a charming artist and sat down to have a wee chat.
Deirdre McCarthy is inspired by the coutryside that surrounds her house on the hill in Inistioge, just south of Kilkenny City.
I love the whimiscal feel of her paintings and the vibrant colors.

A Celtic Experience Day 2
Today was absolute perfection.
My group had time to explore Kilkenny this morning. I walked along the Medieval Mile to St. Canice's Cathedral before returning to the Saturday Market and meeting Deirdre.
Around noon we leaded into our mini coach for a trip to Tipperary.
First stop, Cahir Castle for explorations and a picnic lunch on the island.
Then on to the Rock of Cashel, which never fails to impress.
Tomorrow we leave the lovely Butler House for a trip to Doolin – with a couple stops along the way.
