About Shannon Heritage

Shannon Heritage manages tourism and events at Bunratty Castle, King’s John Castle, Knappogue Castle, Craggaunowen, and Dunguaire Castle in the west of Ireland as well as the GPO Visitor’s Centre and Malahide Castle and Gardens in Dublin.

The mission of Shannon Heritage includes protecting and preserving historic places, creating jobs, and boosting the local economy through tourism.

This Year’s Changes at Bunratty

The Entry Way: Is larger and has a bigger retail section complete with a cafe. Fairy Village: A tribute to the Little People in Irish Mythology. Lots of new animals for the farm. See all the new wonderful, whimsical updates at Bunratty Castle.

King John’s Castle

King John was the brother of Richard the Lionheart. This is during the time period of Robin Hood and the Knights of the Roundtable. You can learn about him and the layers of history at King John’s Castle.

Events

Bunratty Castle medieval banquet runs nightly year-round. Irish Night in the Corn Barn runs less frequently. Knappogue Castle Medieval Banquet runs from April-October, as does Dunguaire Castle. All events at the castles can be booked online at Shannon Heritage.
