About Shannon Ferries
Shannon Ferries if a part of the National Route Network. Please note that individual ferry routes are not easily seen when searching through popular mapping software, you can select “allow ferries” and “allow tolls” within your particular app. Take a break from driving and make your travel day an event that you and your family will remember.
The Wild Atlantic Way
The Wild Atlantic Way Initiative, now in it's fourth year of existence, was created to get locals and tourists to explore the west of Ireland and to highlight all of the hidden gems and attractions worthy of visiting. Although in its infancy, it has had much success in bringing locals and tourists together for a unique experience of sights, sounds, and tastes. Bringing benefits to businesses along the route and strengthening the western region of Ireland, the Wild Atlantic Way Initiative encourages you to see places and sights full of culture, heritage, and history you wouldn’t know to seek out for yourself.
Loop Head
The Wild Atlantic Way takes you off the primary route onto the side roads and hidden gems including Loop Head. A place as wild, rustic, and as unspoiled a landscape doesn’t exist anywhere else in such a pristine state. Loop Head is the non-commercialized, unspoiled, and eco-friendly destination that you have been searching for. This is an example of the Wild Atlantic Way’s effort to move away from ‘marquis’ destinations and to open up the raw, unspoiled areas to visitors and tourists, to teach visitors that exploration is perfectly okay, and that they should seek out the cultural Ireland that is not widely known.
