To wrap up 2012, I wanted to share my 10 most popular posts of the year. The 3rd most popular post came about after a conference with my daughter's teacher last year.
Since publishing that article I have begun homeschooling- and roadschooling- my girls. The reasons are numerous, but we have experienced more in the latter half of 2012 than we did in all of 2011!

Arguments on the “against” side include statements like, “Your kids won’t remember it” and “Kids don’t learn anything when they are that young”. One of the eight sacred days in Ireland’s Celtic tradition, the summer solstice, falling this year on June 20, is associated with fertility, nature and new beginnings. It’s the perfect time to…
It’s fair to say I do quite a bit of packing for travel. And, while I tend toward over-packing (especially when we are driving to destinations), I do try to keep my packing for Ireland a bit lighter. Our most recent trip, however, had a mix of activities – from outdoor pursuits which required warm gear,…
Corned beef is as synonymous with St. Patrick’s Day in the United States as a shamrock is with Ireland. And while traditional corned beef and cabbage is not Irish, it is definitely Irish American! Corned Beef Isn’t Irish??? Nope! Corned beef and cabbage actually traces back to New York and the influx of Irish immigrants…
If you love a good stew this is one of the best I’ve ever made. While it can be made, start to finish, in about an hour and a half I prefer to make mine in the late morning and let it simmer on low for hours to really enhance the flavors. And it makes…
