Doolin Inn | Where to Stay in Doolin

My first stay at what is now the Doolin Inn was back in October 2014, before Halloween.

At the time the property was the Doolin Hostel, a charming budget accommodation as perfect for backpackers as it was for families.

When I returned in 2016 the wee village of Doolin had become one of the most popular spots along the Wild Atlantic Way. And the hostel was set for an evolution as well.
In 2017 the Doolin Hostel became the Doolin Inn, a charming boutique hotel in the centre of Doolin.

Doolin Inn – at the Heart of Doolin

When it comes to choosing where to stay in Doolin, location is everything. And Doolin Inn is perfectly located overlooking Fisher Street and its colorful shops.

From Doolin Inn you can walk to everything in town. Choose a local pub (there are 4) for an evening meal and music. Stroll down to the wonderful shops for souvenirs and gifts. Head up the hill to the right and you'll soon find Doonagore Castle. Or, if you don't mind a longer walk, you can hoof it to Doolin Pier for a day trip to the Aran Islands.

This perfect placement is only the beginning of what makes Doolin Inn such a wonderful accommodation for exploring Doolin and the surrounding area.

Rooms at Doolin Inn

Though I had been watching the renovations at Doolin Inn via their Instagram account I wasn't fully prepared for the changes that greeted me in early 2019.

The clean and comfortable, but simple, rooms had been completely renovated.

Built in headboards and custom storage areas were added to each room, then painted a soft, neutral grey. White trim and bedding gave the room a casually elegant feel. Throw pillows and brightly colored pictures added a charming pop of whimsy.

Relax in your room at Doolin Inn with a cup of tea

The rooms, once organized for maximum capacity, now felt larger and more open, welcoming you in to enjoy a cup of tea and relax in the sitting area.

The private bathroom also received an update, the simpler fixtures now upgraded to gleaming glass and porcelain.

Even the free wifi had been upgraded, the signal strong and steady, making it easy for me to check email and post quick social media updates.

Dining At Doolin Inn

The bedrooms weren't the only thing at the Doolin Inn to receive a makeover.

Breakfast with a view

The charming sitting area has been expanded, constructed with floor to ceiling windows to take in views of Doolin overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. On a fine day the brick patio feels like an extension of this open, inviting room.

Hot and cold items are included in the delicious breakfast offerings

Doolin Inn serves a delicious breakfast daily. The emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and traditional recipes is evident as you examine both the continental offerings and freshly cooked options of eggs, meats, and potatoes.

The on-site coffee shop is the perfect spot for an afternoon pick-me-up. Enjoy a barista made coffee, rich hot chocolate, or hot tea, along with a slice of home-baked cake or cookie.

    1. I don’t think there are any ground floor rooms, but I could be wrong. I didn’t see any information on the website concerning this, either. Your best bet is to contact Doolin Inn directly.
